Barbara Kerner, nee Bookstein, beloved wife of the late Marvin for 40 wonderful years; dearest daughter of the late Albert and Goldie Bookstein; special mother of Karyn Kerner (Patrick Scott Engel) and Steven (Charlotte); proud and loving Bubbie of Max and Clark Kerner and Xander Gonzalez; caring sister of Robert (Rosemary) Bookstein; fun loving aunt of Melic, Alaina and Lea; dear cousin and friend to many. Chapel service Thursday 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gaucher Disease Foundation at www.gaucherdisease.org or to the charity of your choice. Barb (a.k.a. my adopted Jewish Mom) was the best person I’ve ever met. She was so encouraging to me through all my trials and tribulations and would share a good laugh with me at a drop of a hat. I would love to visit Barb in her condo, in the building lobby or in the park next to the building to catch up on each others life. She loved her children and grandchildren so much and would always share such wonderful stories of their accomplishments and express how proud she was of them all and how she always worried about them. Barb’s love and friendship was endless and bountiful. I will miss her dearly and will love her forever. You are the best Barb!!! The very BEST!!! Thank you for being there for me when my own Mom wouldn’t. I love you!!!
